FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
What type/size is the cable?
Fulifix cables are 7×7 T316 stainless steel, 1/8″ in diameter, designed to minimize stretching and maximize your view. They are typically spaced 3 inches apart with a break strength of 1950 lbs.
How far apart are the posts spaced?
The engineering for our system supports maximum post spacing of 4’ for residential projects and 3’ for commercial projects.
Can I install the cable railing system myself, or do I need a contractor?
Fulifix® railing system is designed for easy assembly and installation by almost anyone. Basic construction knowledge and familiarity with tools will be helpful.
Does installing the system require specialized skills like welding?
No special skills, such as welding, are needed to install the system. It's designed for straightforward assembly using common tools.
How does your railing withstand the elements, especially in salty air?
While no metal is entirely rustproof, stainless steel is highly resistant to the elements, including salty air, and performs well in marine environments. Its chemical composition allows it to form a protective, corrosion-resistant layer when exposed to oxygen. This 'passive' layer effectively combats corrosion in harsh conditions. To maintain its appearance, periodically wash the railing with a chloride-free car wash or wax to prevent the buildup of contaminants.
Which mounting system offers greater strength: top-mounted or side-mounted?
The IBC (International Building Code) and IRC (International Residential Code) set design requirements for railing systems based on their application (residential, commercial, etc.), without specifying mounting methods. As noted, all Fulifix® Railing Systems comply with these standards.
